An education focused consortium with 25 years of experience dedicated to improving learning outcomes across Africa.
Established in 2000, Kelello has grown from a two-member team to a multidisciplinary team of eight researchers, evaluators and project managers with PhDs. Our team includes senior researchers with extensive research experience, solid classroom practice experts, and a school leadership expert.
The foundational knowledge of our core team includes mathematics and language teacher education, assessment, statistics, school-based teacher education, early childhood development, history and fine arts. Our team members are strong in both qualitative and quantitative methods of evaluation.
“The team collectively has over 100 years of research and evaluation experience, working across South Africa and the broader African continent.”
Kelello offers particular expertise in assessment, teacher development and mathematics, languages and use of technologies – all customised for investors in education who are interested in improving learning outcomes in low and middle income countries.
Kelello’s mission is to become a leading provider of innovative and dynamic evidence-based
solutions to improving learning outcomes particularly in low income communities.
“We believe that while educational materials, parental support and psycho-social
support matter, teachers can have the greatest effect on improving education outcomes.
It is the teacher who implements any school-based intervention, hence, they need
to have the disposition, knowledge and skills to inspire learners and to effect change.”
Kelello is an education focused consortium made up of two
distinct but complementary parts working toward the same mission.
A closed corporation established in 2000, focusing on Monitoring and Evaluation of Education based projects in Africa. Kelello Consulting offers bespoke evaluation services for investors and implementation agencies in education who seek to improve education and social development outcomes.
A newly registered not-for-profit company (NPC) and public benefit organisation, focusing on educational training, learning materials and design-based research. The expansion was partially in response to international donor requests and to move beyond evaluation to include constructive tools such as teacher training materials.
Kelello is governed by experienced directors and supported by a distinguished advisory board.
